Employer Sponsored Visas
Skills in Demand (Subclass 482)
The SID visa enables Australian employers to address labour shortages by sponsoring skilled workers for roles that cannot be filled by suitably qualified Australian workers. This visa subclass offers three distinct streams.
Core Skills Stream
This stream addresses labour shortages by enabling employers to bring in skilled workers when suitable Australian workers are unavailable. You may be eligible to apply for this visa if:
- You have a job offer from an approved sponsor for a role listed in the Core Skills Occupation List and earn at least the Core Skills Income Threshold, and no less than Australian workers in the same occupation.
- You possess the required skills and qualifications, along with at least 12 months of relevant work experience.
- You demonstrate proficiency in the English language.
- You meet the character and health requirements.
Specialist Skills stream
The Specialist Skills Stream addresses labour shortages by allowing employers to bring in skilled workers for roles that cannot be filled by appropriately qualified Australian candidates.
This stream is designed for higher-level positions requiring specialised expertise and typically offers salaries that meet the Specialist Income Threshold. You may be eligible to apply for this visa if you:
- Have a job offer from an approved sponsor for a role listed in the ANZSCO occupation in Major Groups 1, 2, 4, 5 or 6 with a salary that meets the Specialist Income Threshold.
- Possess the required skills, qualifications and at least one year of relevant work experience.
- Demonstrate proficiency in the English language.
- Meet the character and health requirements.
Labour Agreement stream
The Labour Agreement Stream is for skilled workers nominated by employers who have an approved Labour Agreement. This stream is specifically designed for workers nominated under the terms of a Labour Agreement. You may be eligible to apply for this visa if you:
- Are nominated to work in a specified occupation under the terms of a Labour Agreement.
- Have at least one year of relevant work experience (unless otherwise specified in the Labour Agreement).
- Agree to work exclusively for your sponsor employer
- Demonstrate proficiency in the English language (unless you are exempt from this requirement).
- Meet the character and health requirements.
Skilled Employer Sponsored Regional visa (subclass 494)
The subclass 494 Skilled Employer Sponsored Regional (Provisional) visa is designed to help regional Australian employers fill labour shortages by sponsoring skilled workers from overseas. You may be eligible to apply for this visa if:
- You have a valid job offer from an approved regional employer in a role listed on the relevant occupation list.
- You are under 45 years of age at the time of application.
- You possess the necessary skills, qualifications and at least three years of relevant work experience.
- You demonstrate English language proficiency.
- You meet the character and health requirements.
This visa provides a pathway to permanent residency through the Subclass 191 visa after three years of employment in a designated regional area.
Employer Nomination Scheme (subclass 186)
The subclass 186 Employer Nomination Scheme (ENS) visa is a permanent residency visa for skilled workers who are nominated by an Australian employer. It allows eligible employees to live and work in Australia indefinitely. You may be eligible to apply for this visa if:

- You possess the relevant skills and qualifications for the nominated occupation and have the relevant work experience.
